What is a OEM / Tray CPU?

While the processor itself is identical in every to those that come in their retail counterparts however these 'tray' CPUs are provided directly from the manufacuter without retail packaging, manual or accessories.

They come of the exact same production line as the retail processors but instead are packed in bulk trays to be distributed to large scale commercial system builders like Dell, HP, Lenovo (and us!) minimizing wasted packaging and optimising freight costs.

Warranty

While retail counterparts are offered with a 3 year warranty, tray CPUs purchased seperately (not in a PC build) are only provided with a 12 months return to point to purchase warranty, without exception. Please take this in to careful concideration before purchasing as we cannot accept returns of these processors after the first 12 months. While it is exceptionally rare for a CPU to develop a fault, especially after the first 12 months, it is never impossible and should be a factor in your purchasing decision.
